Extremely gentle, flower essences are an additional modality and are often used to help relieve stress and anxiety.

A prominent and caring physician, Dr Edward Bach developed a subtle form of healing in the 1930s that was based on the essence of plants and flowers. He had discovered in his many years of practice that there were illnesses that arose on more subtle levels of emotional and mental imbalances.

Despite his successful work with orthodox medicine at a Harley Street clinic, he left because he felt dissatisfied with the way doctors were expected to focus on diseases and not on the individual patient. He turned to alternative therapies. His belief was that illness is the effect of disharmony between mind and body and that the negative emotions were part of the symptoms that this caused.

He researched and developed powerful homeopathic tinctures, experimenting on himself first. By treating those negative feelings, the misery and distress were relieved and patients were able to heal much faster as their bodies were unblocked and emotions became balanced.

Bach flower remedies may help raise self-awareness, assist in positive transformation of negative states and can be used in times of immense stress and overwhelm. They do not interfere with other medications and are easily taken by children. Rescue Remedy is a common aid by many people during major transitions in life and trauma and is still used all over the world.
